The Local Plan Inspector has just issued preliminary conclusions which recommended that the Cambridge EIP is suspended because of concerns over the development strategy, the Green Belt and objectively assessed housing need.
CSA were commissioned by the North Barton Road Consortium, which is made up of a number of the Cambridge Colleges, to review SCDC and CCC’s joint review of the Cambridge Green Belt. CSA’s Managing Director, Clive Self, appeared at the EIP and argued that the methodology used for the Green Belt Review was flawed and that there was no consistency in the way in which potential sites had been evaluated. The Inspector’s preliminary finding was that there were shortcomings with the Green Belt Review and recommend that further work was required to make the process more transparent and to consider all reasonable alternative sites.
