New homes and SANG approved in Surrey

A development of 62 new homes, on the edge of the Green Belt, has received a resolution to grant outline planning permission. Working on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, CSA provided urban design, landscape and ecology advice. A critical part of the project was the delivery of a bespoke Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANG) to mitigate for potential impacts of the development, which lies within 5km of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area (SPA). The SANG has been designed in line with Natural England guidelines to provide new residents and the existing local community with an attractive alternative for informal recreation with the aim of reducing visitor pressure on the Thames Basin Heaths SPA.
