Cemex UK Properties have been granted outline planning permission, on appeal, for 81 dwellings at Long Itchington, Warwickshire. Despite an Officer’s recommendation to approve, Stratford-on-Avon District Council chose to refuse the application, alleging it would harm the character and appearance of the area and the setting of the neighbouring Grand Union Canal. CSA’s Managing Director, Clive Self, gave evidence to the Inquiry on the landscape impact of the development and the effect on the Grand Union Canal. In granting consent, the Inspector concluded that the benefits of the scheme would “manifestly outweigh the minor harm identified”.
