Energy saving building insulation works were put on hold when the potential for bats to be affected was raised by the planning ecologist. CSA found small numbers of pipistrelle bats using gaps behind large concrete panels located at each end of the five-storey building.
With surveys complete and the planning consent in place, Aidan Marsh (CSA Director and Registered Consultant) was able to obtain a Bat Low Impact Class Licence (BLICL) within a few days, allowing bats to be excluded and building works to get back on track. The bat exclusions were far from standard and required a bespoke approach, carefully implemented with the help of contactors Wall Coatings Ltd.
