Construction of a new permanent wedding venue at the Grade II listed Greenwoods Hotel in Essex has just started. The new building, designed by Asseal Architects, uses part of the original listed orangery. The hotel itself sits in a Registered Park and Garden designed in 1905 by Thomas Mawson, the 1st president of the Landscape Institute.
CSA’s landscape architects were responsible for designs to restore the garden to its former glory, as part of the approved works to the new building. The works to the garden will involve the restoration of the former sunken pond enclosed by mature yew hedging, the creation of new formal herbaceous borders, restoration of the former Summer house and a new orchard.
