The Members of the East Cambridgeshire District Council Planning Committee unanimously resolved to grant outline planning permission for a new development of up to 116 dwellings, in the north of Witchford, Cambridgeshire. CSA’s Urban Designers, Ecologists, Landscape Architects and Arboricultural worked on behalf of Gladman Developments to design the scheme.
This multi-disciplinary approach resulted in a well-thought out scheme, with the Planning Committee Members commenting that they were particularly pleased with how the design of the scheme responded to its context. The scheme took account of a diverse range of issues and opportunities, including flooding, noise from the nearby bypass, and the visual impact of built development within the level landscape of the fens. CSA paid particular attention to the proposed design and appearance of two new noise attenuation bunds along the A142 bypass, with photomontages of the bunds produced to illustrate the visual effects to the Planning Committee Members.
