Members of Harrogate Planning Committee resolved to approve outline planning permission for up to 175 dwelling at Knaresborough in North Yorkshire. Working on behalf of Gladman Developments, CSA’s Urban Designers, Ecologists, Landscape Architects and Arboricultural Consultants worked closely together to create a carefully considered design which responded to its sensitive location.
One of the principal environmental benefits of the proposals was to restore and create a number of wildlife ponds providing a net gain for breeding amphibians at the Site. Our analysis of the site also found that views to the spire of Holy Trinity Church, located in the centre of Knaresborough, could be gained from parts of the site. Consequently, the masterplan proposals showed how a street can be aligned to maintain views to the church spire, therefore helping to anchor the proposals to their existing context.
