Birmingham Green Heart project has been completed this year! CSA has been guiding the delivery of biodiversity features with the creation of rain-water gardens, drifts of wildflowers, installation of a contemporary swift tower, a ‘habitat wall’ and variety of wildlife boxes. The finishing touches to a water rill feature will be completed alongside the adjacent building works to conclude the ecological enhancements. The project, since its inception in early 2015, is a culmination of a collaboration between CSA, Churchman Landscape Architects, the University, and the Principal Contractor.

CSA recently returned to the campus to capture some shots of the autumnal display of new planting following the first year of establishment. The design fulfils the innovative concept integrating this new green space with the original classic clock tower, iconic Muirhead building and new golden library and grass amphitheatre, whilst maximising biodiversity outcomes. The wildflower banks are establishing well and already proving to be valuable to pollinators looking for late season nectar, and trees heavy with bundles of fruit for birds. CSA were delighted to have been involved in this flagship project with the University and look forward to watching it thrive.
