Outline planning consent has been granted by Arun District Council for a site at Angmering in West Sussex, for up to 160 new homes, associated green infrastructure and drainage. The consent also delivers up to 1,393 square metres (15,000 square feet) of B1/B2 units and and for a parcel of land to be transferred to Angmering Parish Council in order to facilitate the expansion of existing playing fields.
CSA were appointed by Gladman Developments to provide urban design, landscape, ecology and arboriculture advice to formulate a design proposal for the site. After numerous communications between CSA, Gladman and Angmering Parish Council, we were able to create a scheme which will benefit the local community through the creation of a new ‘Sports Hub’, forming an extension to the existing recreation ground located adjacent to the site. The sports centre would also offer the opportunity for a community space/ function room, treatment room or space for a drop in doctor/ dentists, as well a large car park providing parents of St Margaret’s C of E Primary School a safe and alternative pick up/drop off point.
The proposals for the Site also included public open space and sustainable drainage, and was carefully designed to be sensitive to a number of ecological constraints and mature trees located along the site’s boundaries.
