A Masterplan document prepared by CSA to guide the development of 1,920 new homes in Melton Mowbray was endorsed earlier this month by Melton Borough Council’s Cabinet. The Masterplan document was prepared on behalf of Barwood Development Securities Ltd, Taylor Wimpey UK Ltd, William Davis Ltd and Leicestershire County Council and in conjunction with Melton Borough Council.
The site, which is known as the Melton Mowbray North Sustainable Neighbourhood (MMNSN), is one of two strategic sites for new housing allocated in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire in the adopted Melton Local Plan. The Local Plan establishes the requirements for a Masterplan to guide future development at the MMNSN. Over the course of the last two years, CSA’s urban design and masterplanning team has worked closely with the developers and officers from Melton Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council to prepare the comprehensive Masterplan document which provides a robust planning and design framework for the new neighbourhood.
The document provides a visual representation of the design aspirations for the new development and provides a detailed phasing strategy for the delivery of the new homes and supporting community infrastructure. In addition to the 1,920 new homes, the Masterplan document also guides the delivery of two new primary schools, a local centre, sports pitches, a community centre, land to expand an existing secondary school and a wide range of green spaces.
