A Development Brief and Design Code document prepared by CSA to guide the delivery and design of 500 new homes and supporting green infrastructure in the Bedfordshire village of Great Barford was recently endorsed. The document was prepared on behalf of Axiom Developments Limited and Vistry (formely Countryside) in close collaboration with Great Barford Parish Council, who endorsed the document.
The site, known as Millfield End, comprises an area designated for up to 500 new homes and associated open spaces in the Great Barford Neighbourhood Plan 2020-2030. The Neighbourhood Plan requires that a Development Brief and Design Code be prepared for the site in line with the policy requirements of the plan.
In preparing the document, the developer and consultant team worked closely with the local community, including the Great Barford Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, to design the best possible new neighbourhood for Great Barford, with the vision being to create a forward-thinking, community orientated place rooted in the unique nature of the village and the local area.
The endorsement of the document marks a significant milestone for Millfield End as it enters the next phase of the planning process.
