Planning consent granted at Appeal for 234 new homes

We are pleased to announce that the Inspectorate has recently allowed an appeal for 234 homes at Watmore Lane, Winnersh. The planning application was in outline with all matters reserved save for access.

CSA were acting on behalf of Taylor Wimpey and provided landscape and ecological  advice throughout the application and an expert landscape witness at the Inquiry. Ecology was not contested as it had been clearly demonstrated that the ecological assets of the Site had been respected and that BNG would be delivered.

The site is on the periphery of Winnersh and has a strong relationship to the town and local facilities within it. It was a draft allocation in Wokingham Borough Council’s emerging Local Plan.

The illustrative masterplan that accompanied the application showed that a generous area of open space was to be provided alongside Emm Brook, which formed the boundary with the neighbouring countryside. Informal areas of open space and a central green was also provided. As a result of this approach, the development would have a strong sense of place and provide a range of recreational opportunities, for both new and existing residents. It would similarly provide benefits for wildlife.

It is always gratifying to obtain planning consent and we are equally pleased to say that we will be continuing to work with Taylor Wimpey on the reserved matters application.
