During a recent dormouse survey, one of our team captured something wonderful, a wood mouse, wide-eyed and curious, peering out from a nest tube. That photograph has just been awarded Highly Commended in the Mammal Society’s Mammal Photographer of the Year Competition👏.

But beyond the recognition, it’s moments like these that stay with you. Hours in the field, careful hands, patient eyes, and then this. A tiny creature, going about its life, briefly sharing it with you.

This is what drives the work our teams do every day. Not just the surveys and the data, but the encounters that no job description ever quite captures.

Congratulations Sophie and thanks for sharing this with us all.
