We are proud of the role CSA Environmental played in delivering a project that continues to be recognised across the industry. Our landscape team undertook the design from Stage 4 onwards and oversaw the implementation on site on behalf of TTP.
Naturally we were delighted that the CSA Environmental Landscape team’s entry for TTP Campus was a finalist in the Excellence in Landscape Design category at the Landscape Institute Awards 2025. The judging panel comments on our entry demonstrate why the CSA Environmental approach supports people, places and nature to thrive:
“A real highlight provided by CSA is the successful partnership with the appointed ecologist to ensure that the TTP Campus worked as well for local wildlife as the end user and custodian. TTP Campus immediately provides a ‘look and feel’ of a balanced integration of architecture and landscape, transforming a rural site into a vibrant, biodiverse new campus.
Its naturalistic design seamlessly blends into the existing, with the campus landscape offering an immersive parkland setting. The diversity of landscape through meadows, woodland and wetland make the scheme feel like a truly holistic masterplan where the buildings are sited in response to the landscape and not the other way round, where the landscape works hard for the building and function of spaces.
It demonstrates that landscape can an integral component of the workplace providing opportunities for health and wellbeing, activities and socializing, as well as biodiversity enhancement. In a post Covid era where the value of the physical workplace is challenged, the landscape here will encourage people to come to their physical place of work, and to collaborate – it feels like you are going for a day out, rather than going to work.
The landscape is rich and textual, and it provides an impressive setting for the campus. There has also been a clear and demonstrable effort towards sustainability that goes far beyond the norm.
A really impressive proposal, bedding new built-form sensitively into a rich and diverse landscape. The relationship of indoor spaces with the outdoor environment is exemplary and enviable! A very well depicted submission which demonstrates exemplar thinking and delivery.“
‘Promoting biodiversity was a key part of the project’s sustainability strategy. As well as creating the wildflower meadows, the landscape incorporates 773 new trees that will be sustained by water from the site, a new 984sqm wildlife pond, and 950m of native hedgerow. The landscape features spaces to work and rest and is key when transitioning between the different buildings and spaces on the campus. For example, the car park is positioned a couple of minutes’ walk south of the Hive and the Exchange. This invites the TTP team and visitors to walk through the wild planted landscape, instilling a moment of calm, before entering or exiting the buildings. People can also enjoy nature by using the fitness trail around the site, a route for exercising, contemplation, and active meetings‘ – Sheppard Robson.

- AJ Architecture Awards 2024 – Winner: Best Workplace Project (£50 million+) – ‘They are pushing boundaries of what a workplace means,’ said the judges.
- Greater Cambridge Design and Construction (GCDC) Awards 2024 – Winner: Best New Building over £2 million – ‘Acknowledged for its outstanding design and contribution to Cambridge’s science and technology sector’.’The landscape setting for the buildings provides a series of tranquil spaces framed by over-sized grasses (there are deliberately no manicured lawns), and various seating areas and routes through/ a trim trail around the edge of the site for leisure/ exercise use by employees and local people alike’.
- British Council for Offices (BCO) National Awards 2024 – Winner: Best of the Best and Winner: Corporate Workplace – ‘a truly inspiring workplace’, ‘Greenery and sustainability are key features with 773 trees planted, fed by water from the site, and a 984sq m wildlife pond created, with 950m of native hedgerow to be installed, not forgetting the local community. TTP builds upon the unique relationship the organisation has with nearby Melbourn in Cambridge, giving is ongoing support for this local village and wider Cambridge, along with offering enhanced biodiversity, new public walks, the lake and wildflower meadows.’.
