CSA’s landscape and ecology teams worked closely with the Caravan and Motorhome Club to deliver a scheme for the creation of 10 camping pods at the Brighton Caravan Club site, situated in a sort after location with sea views, adjacent to the South Downs National Park and Sheepcote Valley Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI).

A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) was produced to accompany the planning application, which identified key ecological features and proposals to minimise potential impacts of the scheme. Planning consent was granted, and CSA produced a bespoke Ecological Design Strategy to address planning conditions imposed; detailing ecological mitigation and enhancement measures, habitat creation to be delivered alongside the scheme and long-term ecological sensitive management measures. The final scheme includes creation of south-facing chalk slopes providing opportunities for invertebrates to bask and native wildflowers to establish, seeding of some native wildflower areas and management of retained areas of rough grassland for reptiles.

Implementation of the scheme is underway, and our CSA Brighton team will be reserving a pitch for summer 2019!
