Helping shape a new countryside community in Sittingbourne, Kent

LinkedIn

Our landscape team are helping Taylor Wimpey deliver 290 new homes shaped by landscape, play and nature, now with Reserved Matters approval.

Tree-lined streets, play spaces and orchards create a place that celebrates local character while delivering meaningful Biodiversity Net Gain.

The design of the landscape provides varying character within the area of development, with a tree lined spine road, shrub planting and seasonal interest to secondary streets along with clipped native hedges providing a countryside edge to private drives.

The large area of public open space provides several recreational opportunities. From formal and informal walking routes, a large area of equipped play, a multi-use games area and an informal kick about space, to a new community orchard, thicket, and woodland planting.

An area of retained orchard planting to the north of the site maintains the sites character and appearance from Riddles Road, while a new community orchard provides a new opportunity within the public open space. To the south of the site, the parkland setting mirrors the local character and provides a countryside setting for both new and existing homes.

Large areas of new woodland, thicket and grassland provide new opportunities for wildlife and ecology on site, with this development securing a high increase in BNG value.

Congratulations to all the teams involved including CSA Environmental, Taylor Wimpey plc South East, DHA Planning Group and BM3 Architecture Ltd .
