CSA is delighted to announce that Shropshire Council’s Northern Planning Committee has approved Gladman’s outline planning permission for a new residential development of up to 100 homes, including 10% affordable housing, on land north of Longford Turning, Market Drayton.
This approval is a major milestone for the site, which previously saw two applications refused in 2022 and 2023. The refusals were not due to concerns about the suitability of the site for housing per se, but because the Council’s draft housing plan carried limited weight at the time. With the planning context now changed, the updated plan and supporting evidence were given far greater consideration, paving the way for this positive outcome.
The proposals at Market Drayton will deliver high-quality homes set within an attractive network of green spaces, including a new children’s play area, trim trail stations for outdoor fitness, vibrant wildflower planting alongside tree and hedgerow planting, and a series of recreational routes enhanced by thoughtful landscaping.
As part of the development, improvements to pedestrian, cycling, and vehicle connectivity will be made, enhancing accessibility for future residents and supporting the proposed relocation of the Greenfields sports facilities to the north of the site.
